clem.jpgLast night we had a really good practice, even though it started out with Dave messing around with the lift on his boathouse. There seemed to be a power problem. I told him I would love to help him out but I don’t like to dance to the beat of alternating current and Rodney and I argued about who was going to dive into the water to rescue Dave when he was knocked into the lake by the electricity. Since I had a beer in my hand, it seemed perfectly logical to me that the job should fall to Rodney. Fortunately, Dave survived unscathed and determined that the problem was elsewhere.

As a bonus, Dave’s cousin, Clem showed up for practice.

bhp.jpgWe had a really good practice last night. The pirated recording of Big Hand Dave playing Green Onions and Secret Agent Man were debuted to great reviews.

Damn Pirates!!

We decided that we have enough material to make a band page on MySpace with actual recordings. I think Rodney should be in charge of that. He had his cool little recording device last night and I think we got some good stuff.

April is Autism Awareness Month! Across the United States and beyond, the autism community is celebrating its members, holding special events to raise awareness, and raising money for research. This month, I’ll be highlighting as many national and local events as I can — so please feel free to send me information about autism events in your area!

Autism Speaks was founded just a few years ago by Bob Wright, CEO of NBC and grandfather to an autistic child. Last year, it merged with the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR). With strong ties to Hollywood and the media, Autism Speaks is VERY busy this month.

Some of the highlights of the Autism Speaks agenda this month projects include a new Public Service Announcement to be launched nationally; special fundraising programs with Build-a-Bear and TJ Maxx, and, most importantly, NAAR’s annual walkathons across the country to raise money for autism research.
